Everyone keeps forgetting you could play with friends on Splatoon day one, you just couldn't do private lobbies and ranked teams and stuff. Me and Muss had an excellent few weeks with two TVs and two Wii Us in my living room.

I really really really love this game, I played the 7pm Friday slot, 11am and 7pm Saturday and Sunday noon. The splat dualies are great but I found the special inkjet hard to control at first. The splattershot's special though is just amazing, it's so much fun being able to fire it at some poor sods on the other side of the map and see the "splatted x,y & z" appear at the bottom of the screen.
My biggest problem was the newly moved jump button, I got splatted on several occasions because I went to jump out of the way but instead opened the map. I got used to it sure, but it was still annoying.

Nah folk were well into it before that update but some wouldn't shut up about the "lack of content" yet years later the same people don't bat an eyelid at some online only shooters.

Due to work, Internet issues and forgetting the clocks went forward ( Embarrassed ), I ended up missing the entirety of this. Gutted as I've not touched Splatters at all and I was looking to get a handle on how it played during the Testfire. Was there more than one Testfire with the first Splatters?

Yea I got camped a lot but that's just the risk that you run with it, when I wasn't on dualie duty I tended to look after my teammates launch point but it usually proved to be a waste of time.

While the inkjet definitely had issues, the couple of times I got into a double-jet duel in the air, or managed to take out an airborne player who was coming after me, were among my top moments of the testfire.

Maybe but I never seemed to see you guys talk about playing games in-till after the update etc, you may have but the echo chamber I was in seemed to not suggest that.

So map rotation is still going to be a thing but they will rotate every 2 hours instead of 4, I was hoping for more tweaks to this like maybe have more maps in the pool but at least this should allow everyone to see/play every map available.

I think that's a decent improvement. I'm not sure if that, plus more maps in rotation, is something I'd prefer over a Mario Kart 8 esque vote system. I feel like the MK system could translate well, but equally it's nice to have that jump-in mentality that Splatoon's original system had with the bonus that things will get freshened up a little more regularly.

I never really had a problem with the rotation times in the first game, the only thing that bugged me was that when the maps rotated you were cut to an update from callie and marie, which could get pretty annoying when I was in the zone. I don't think an vote system would be the best thing, because people would just keep voting for the maps that they're good at instead of getting good and playing all of them.

Aye all that nonsense needs to have a skip button on it as the main menu told you what was up at that particular time anyway.

Jas was saying last night that there are Mario Kart tracks we just never play, because people always pick certain top-tier options. I think Splatoon's system works much better for that game by avoiding that kind of thing.
