This was a bit of a surprise. "Welcome to Kawawii Island, a paradise resort where friends and family can enjoy 50+ co-op and competitive activities". Welcome back, more like - I've been here before!

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/05/get_in_the_holiday_mood_with_bandai_namcos_go_vacation_for_switch

Yesterday, Nintendo of Europe announced that Go Vacation was to get a Switch remaster, and that it's coming out soon, on 27th July.

It looks like they're pushing it as a brand-new game, with no mention of it's Wii origins on the game's profile on Nintendo's official site. That's well cheeky if you paid £40 for it in November 2011 like I did. Still, four players on one system, split Joy-Con play, new marine fishing, mountain fishing and photography modes and updated motion controls are promised, as well as everything that was there before.

I think this could have a good amount of success, as it's quite slickly put together, offers plenty of content and is a type of game that seems underrepresented on Switch. Mind you, what was impressive in 2011 might be utter baws in 2018, so I'll be waiting to see how far Namco Bandai take this remaster. How about youse - is anybody interested in Go Vacation?

I've never heard of this game before, but I suppose it did launch at a time when I was paying next to no attention to what was coming out on Wii. It looks fine, but I think a key point which you touched upon yourself Cappa was that this sort of collection which was once one of many on Wii is one of very few on Switch. A half-decent mini-game collection is something that genuinely could do rather well on Switch.

It sounds like they're putting some proper attention into this overhaul, which is good of them.  Not sure if it's for me, but it might be good fun in local multiplayer (although the Switch is already pretty good for that).

NB: Too many uses of 'good' there. No

These sort of sports games collections will always conjure up memories of Wii Sports, so if there's little in the way of faff involved in getting to play these minigames, I think this could indeed be a local multiplayer hit. I just hope it's reasonably priced...

It was a shame that the Switch didn't launch with its equivalent to Wii Sports so there's definitely something to be said for a selection of sporty mini games. Hopefully they get the price right so I don't have to feel so bad if I buy it and then it starts collecting as much dust as 1-2-Switch

The opening of the trailer for this totally looks like a Battle Royale game

As for the actual game... I'm actually interested, it seems to have a certain charm to it. I am the person who fell weirdly in love with the looney tunes minigame collection on Vita after all

I never picked it up on the Wii, as everyone I knew was burned out on the multiplayer "fests" that appeared. But it was on my "maybe" list for a while after that, due to some guy called Ross who really sold me on it... Winky Face Am a bit tempted.

Very tempted myself, quite like the look of it but can't see myself taking full advantage of the multiplayer so won't be looking at it for full price.
