Loved StarWing. And Stunt Race FX! Blimey. The latter was ugly but such fun.

StarWing made my eyes bleed when I last tried to play it, but I reckon I'll be able to approach it more open-mindedly now than I did back when I picked it up. I'm assuming it's a harder game than its N64 counterpart.

So anyone here played Demon's Crest? Only read a NL review so I'd want opinions I can fully trust, it does sound right up my street though.

Demon's Crest? That's the third Gargoyle's Quest game, is it not?

I totally loved the original GQ and the sequel is on my list. Apparently it follows the successful SNES formula of 'Bigger and better'. Smile

*googles*

It is indeed a sequel to Gargoyle's quest, which is a series that totally passed me by so I might put them on my to play list starting with DC. Smile

If I've got my facts right, I'd start small and work your way up. I thoroughly enjoyed GB Gargoyle's Quest, and I have absolutely no nostalgia for it. It'd be a bloody hard game without save states, mind. I wouldn't have beaten it otherwise. Powering Firebrand up felt every bit as rewarding as any Metroid game I've played.

GQII is from the Capcom golden era on NES, so I'm super looking forward to trying that out at some point, as with the SNES threequel.

I have a weird sense of deja vu about GQ right now, I'm thinking I may have picked it up the last time you spoke about it but to make matters worse I lost a GB game (could be GQ) in my system transfer to new 3ds and there's no sign of what it might be in my e shop account activity. Eh?

Eh?

That is peculiar. On the plus side, though: if it was that, at least it wasn't a pricey eShop game like Shovel Knight. Eh?

I was a SNES kid, and a Nintendo kid. It still feels a bit weird interacting with Sonic in any capacity (I guess this is our generation's version of institutionalised racism). Obvs I could list all of the Marios and Zeldas, and all of the first party games... but also I'd say the SNES had the best version of Lemmings, Bomberman and Sim City.

Having said that - I got the MegaDrive Collection for the PS3 for Christmas; and I'm exploring the games of "the enemy" as a sensible objective grown up. Opinions are still to be fully formed.

I found the Mega Drive Collection to not feel right, I've played VC games on Wii U for instance or PS1 Classics on the PS3 and they feel like they did but the Mega Drive games in the collection. I reckon it's lack of blast processing.

I want to love it, but somehow I never got on with Ristar. In whichever form I tried it on. His grab mechanic just feels off to me.

I was a SEGA kid, first and foremost. I remember being on Sonic's side in playground arguments, though fortunately I was weaned onto Mario not long after when my friend got a NES.

Ristar was limited but I found it great fun, if not a little frustrating that Rissy couldn't jump just that little bit higher. It felt very rewarding to finish off the final boss, though - took ages.

I had problems with the digital controls in relation to his grab mechanic, for some reason. Plus that, I found his movement speed to be a bit on the slow side. Can't argue with how it looks and sounds, though. One of those games that did the Mega Drive proud.

It feels odd: a game released in 2015 is utterly retro. Somewhere out there a new NES game is being made, too. I'm waiting for the Atari 2600 revival next... Shocked

My brother has the family NES, SNES and N64 set up at home. Whenever I visit I'm jealous: just seeing the UN Squadron cart lying there, begging to be played... (for the record, the game that always seems to be in the cart slot is Tetris & Dr. Mario. Tetris & freakin' Dr. Mario. No )
