I can't wait for the last 3 days of the G1 as I think I'll be able to watch all live and in English.

Jay, you know how you offered to give me a crash course and I said I didn't need it . . .

G1 finished this morning, this was the 5-7th day I've watched of the G1 as it's hard to fit in almost 3hrs a show every day for like 28 days.

I feel my knowledge of NJPW is in-between Drunka and Jay based of here and Twitter, with this being the first time I've really got invested into the promotion and have learned about the roster, factions etc thanks to the G1.

I don't really know how NJPW goes forward now compared to WWE but I feel I got my money's worth with NJPWorld for £7.22, I've watched almost 21hrs of "live" top-notch wrestling.

I've now started looking at merch as NJPW has been damn good.

I would like to get in another western wrestling promotion that isn't WWE, I'm thinking ROH especially with the NJPW cross-over.

I started working on one too. I'll finish it up, although parts of it (namely who's holding belts and whatnot) will be a wee bit outdated.

I want you to experience the G1 though. Easily the best three weeks of wrestling I've watched. Brilliance.

Wouldn't the G1 teach Drunka about who's who and the like, as sure I had some prior knowledge going into the G1 but it's how I learned who's in what factions etc

@Jay

Those G1 tag matches you linked to me on skype were a good wee watch & I'm definitely up for watching more of it, two things: really interested to see more of Tama Tonga as he seems to fly about with ease & I like me some comedy wrestling so Toru Yano was fun.

Fannying about the Network tonight, and I've just finished watching Hulk Hogan Vs. Shawn Michaels from Summerslam 2005... Laughing

I forgot how much Shawn Michaels just ripped the complete pish in that match. I rememeber the fued quite well, with the Sweet Chin Music on the July 4th RAW, the Larry King impersonation and "WHO'S YOUR DADDY MONTREAL?!?" promo, but I'd let the match slip my mind. Ahhhhhh. That was quality.

Anyway, Summerslam this weekend. Whistle

Currently catching up with SD live from the past few weeks so I'm not completely out the loop for Summerslam & I've really enjoyed the matches between Corbin/Nakamura, the commentary hit the nail on the head when they said it was the battle of WWE's two best strikers.

Also that triple threat match for the US title was quality as well.

Plenty of intricacies that he'd miss though, and likely something you've missed too so on that note...

Note: I've written this assuming you've not watched the G1 yet, so some parts are currently out of date.

Big Ol' NJPW Primer:

Nice! Tama's great - incredibly quick. Yano never fails to cheer me up when he's wrestling too.

Is that the match where Hogan punches him and Michaels flies back like he's been shot in the chest? Brilliant match. Laughing

Nice one, glad to hear it. It's by no means comprehensive, but it should work as a good setting off point for anyone wanting to give New Japan a watch.

Takeover is tonight, right? I've not kept up with NXT at all, so I'm really unsure about giving it a watch. Having said that, Tyler Bate vs Pete Dunne was on the last Takeover and that was fucking brilliant so might be worth a watch if we can get a match like that again.

That match is one of the funniest things I've seen in the wrestling world. I'm a huge Hogan fan, always have and always will be. But, the way that HBK oversold practically every move still makes me laugh, especially when you could see just now much it pissed off Hogan.

Anyway, I didn't catch much of Summerslam this year, I only watched the first and last match. Jesus Christ though, that Fatal 4 Way was brilliant.

I found SummerSlam to be quite up and down this year but that was partly down to it being 4 hours long (C'mom WWE please make your shows a bit more focused) though the biggest issue the main roster has at the minute is the storytelling especially in making me actually care about the outcome of who wins or loses, for example I hadn't watched NXT for months yet when I sat down to watch Takeover Brooklyn III every single match had a good story to tell and and at the end actually left me interested to see where it all goes next.

Summerslam spoilers:

I like some of them but they're booked awfully in most cases, one of the reasons Sami isn't in my Top 10.

Got told about this last night from Dusty on skype, those are excellent replacements though I was really looking forward to Bray Wyatt vs Finn Balor as I was enjoying the build up they were having and how the former was morphing into/being taken over by Sister Abigail.

That match might be a tough one for Angle as I believe his last match was at ICW almost a year ago, I'm sure he won't miss a step but it being a TLC match means it will be really physical then you have the monsters of Kane & Braun in there too.
