Go for it! Although in typical fashion, as soon as I'd posted that, I found a tune I liked. Rolling Eyes

And a dungeon I didn't really. The inside of the robot camel's irritating me a bit.

I'm not so sure this is the Downfall Timeline myself, Zelda namedropped Hero of Time, Sky and, most importantly, Twilight, which is exclusive to the child timeline.

That said this could also be some sort of "all the timelines end up in the same result" soft-reset, although for that to happen they'd have to have some explanation for the revival of stuck-in-stone-at-the-bottom-of-the-ocean-where-nobody-can-find-him-Ganondorf.

Ah, I wasn't saying this was in the Downfall Timeline, just that it's exploring that idea which appeals to me.

I reckon they probably are going for a soft reboot.

Vague spoilers but probably don't click until you finish the game:

Am I the only one who hasn't had a problem with the divine beast bosses? They've been a good challenge but I've had more troubles with Lynel's.

I'm with you there - none of the Divine Beast bosses KOed me, but I've had a few game overs as the result of taking on Lynels.

Only done the elephant and camel divine beasts so far. Thought the elephant boss was weak sauce but the thunder one got me a couple of times until I realised I needed to parry. My successful run came down to the wire but I enjoyed the challenge. The bugger zapped most of my gear away and I forgot to gather it up before leaving though Laughing

I'm crap at remembering to make elixers and good grub before dungeoneering though so that's partially why I died a few times to the zapper.

Agree about the lynels, have found then very formidable.

Camel one was the only boss that troubled me because it messed with my natural instinct to put my shield up.
Lynels are tough but in the Dark Soulsy way I really love. Just bating them and going for constant Bayonetta dodges is bloody amazing.

Lynels are so much fun once you understand how the combat properly works - still bloody tough mind, but very much doable and makes you feel like a proper badass when you beat them.

Polished off the fire beast yesterday, leaving the birdy boy the sole dude left. Holy shit fellas, that master sword just destroys. Feel like I'll keep it in reserve next time I fight a corrupted boss for a bit more of a challenge

It actually gets souped up inside the Divine Beasts - 60 attack. Shocked

I only had it for 3 of the divine beast bosses, despite it's obvious strength it felt right defeating them that way plus if you had full health & they start using projectiles it was fun to lob some master sword beams at them. Smile

Catching up:
  • I now have the Master Sword, but am not using it until I've taken down the four Divine Beasts;
  • Thunder boy was hard, water boy was easy in comparison;
  • Moldugas are fun, aren't they?  And when I say 'fun', I mean 'fun to snipe from afar with bomb arrows like a cheap bastard';
  • It says something about this amazing game that, upon reaching the leftmost side of the map and gazing out into the desert's rocks, it made me sad to think I can't go out there and climb them for laughs and Korok seeds. Aww!

I much preferred the tremors approach for the Moldugas, stand on rocks or high places where it can't get you, throw a bomb to distract it then wait for it to eat said bomb detonate then wallop the hell out of it with a sword when it's stunned.

That's what the DLC expansion is for!

Haven't made any progress in the better part of a week. Every time I sit down to have a good session the yobs next door insist on spending the evening in the backyard getting thoroughly sloshed and the immersion is brutally shattered. That or by the time I sit down for a session it's too late in the evening and I have to shut the TV down to prevent noise bleeding through the next flat because the walls are all paper-thin.

I am on the verge of sorting out Goron City though, not impressed with the Goron chap we meet. None of the charm that Sideon had, although he did set the bar preeeety darn high!

Also wrapped up memory hunting, Wild Zelda confirmed best character in the franchise. Characters that well done are not what I often associate with Nintendo games, although this isn't the first time Nintendo's brought some surprising nuance to the series characters, Wind Waker Ganondorf remains the best incarnation of the guy.

Zelda is great in BotW, agreed. By the way Athrun this is a breach of Rule 1. We'll have to deliver some justice worth 7 seconds next time.

Crud, I missed out on a marvellous opportunity to bring the #realtwitter experience to the forum with a twenty-post!

Anyhow finished Death Mountain and the gecko beast. The beast itself was awesome, the boarding was probably the worst part of the game. Slow, tedious, an irritating piece of music with a short loop, and some truly godawful attempts at stealth gameplay that had me busting out my Ancient Arrows instead.

I loved the visual when I first got on board the beast itself. Gorgeous.
The approach wasn't the best bit of the game, but taking out the sentry guardians by whacking them with big metal objects was fun. Magnesis is OP.

What in any other game would be a wasted quest for Hearty Durians (ended up buying one from the market Rolling Eyes ) discovered me two new shrines. Best game. BEST.

Moldugas remain great fun to troll. Grin THAT'S FOR ALL THE JUMP-SCARES YOU GAVE ME YOU SON OF A FISH.

Erm. In the jungle. Duh!

Still, done now! Also, can we take a moment to appreciate those desert skeletons, and what we might have fought - and might still fight in the DLC? Shocked

You know what's hilarious?  Climbing whatever tower it is where you get bombarded by electric attacks... after you've got the Thunder Helm. Very Happy

Phew, that final boss fight eh! Just as well the frames didn't drop like they did in the castle assault otherwise that final phase of the duel would've been absolutely hell.

Spoiler:

Interesting that they
Ending spoilers:

Wonder where they're going to go with the DLC, a secret fifth Divine Beast? A more traditional dungeon? And here's hoping the Hard mode does something like add in more moves for enemies (or even new ones!)

So, some final random thoughts. I liked the Divine Beasts and general approach to the puzzle design, the movement to physics based puzzles was immensely fun and rewarding, especially the Divine Beasts which had some truly balance-bending puzzles. The lack of handholding was refreshing, having a game treat the player with the attitude they might have actually played a video game before is something that seems to be absent from far too many games nowadays. The boss fights were great too and I look forward to facing them in a limited health run.

10/10 game, as close to perfection as you can get and a brilliant blending of the evolution of the franchise with a full-circle feeling.
