What are you playing on your Switch?

I can't wait to try Baba is You. Is it top-down? Is it grid-based? Is it puzzley? Yes. Help me finished Dragon Quest Builders someone, please.

You can even have the actual level grid display on screen.  I think a lot of people would like it, and a lot of people would throw it out of the window for being hard and the main rewards being the puzzles in and of themselves.

Sean Bell has been bigging up BiY on The Computer Game Show so I reckon I'll check it out at some point.
I'm some real hours into Okami now and genuinely loving it.

Fair play, it is bloody hard. But also (thus far) very good. If anybody else gets it we're doing a thread.

I picked up hollow Knight a while ago. It's a cracker isn't it? My girlfriend also picked up a Switch and we went through the Pokemon Let's Go games together. They're really bloody good to! Man the Switch is good.

It's so good. Even when its release schedule is pretty empty, it's good.

Yep Switch is goooooood! Great to hear you are into Hollow Knight as well.

Hollow Knight is belting. I keep getting the City of Tears music stuck in my head lately.

Still not playing anything but seen Nintendo are doing a free update for Mario Odyssey and BotW to work with Labo VR.

Odyssey is just three missions but looks like very much like Astro Bot on a smaller scale. Bigger news seems BotW is fully playable in VR, that is impressive and sort make me excited to play BotW as it is a beautiful game but not sure how it look in 360p so close to my eyes though.

Just including three small missions misses the point of SMO IMO. The whole of BotW, though? That could make me give it another shot.

I started Mechstermination Force (Jesus) today, as a kind of antidote to Yoshi, which is a tad too sedate for me. It's... definitely much harder! But thus far, it feels a bit more soulless than the beautiful and unique-feeling Gunman Clive games.

It looked like "one for a sale", as they say. Would I be right with that assessment, Balla?

I'd need to get a bit further in before I confirm.  The gameplay does feel good, but... maybe.  I've gone back to Yoshi after finally beating the second level/boss, which says a fair bit.

I'm definitely keen to check out Mario and Zelda in the Virtual Reality.

As for myself, since finishing Okami I'm poking at s couple things but haven't committed to any big campaigns yet. Been playing some Doom and some Celeste now that I have a pro controller. Also started Deep Ones, been slowly working through Banner Saga and Smash's co-op classic modes . . . Oh, and I started taking on the 200cc ghosts on Mario Kart.

Is Celeste any better on a Pro? I remember the diagonal dashes being really annoying on handheld.

Nope, I still had some problems with dashing diagonally during my playthrough.

I prefer having a real d-pad for a lot of the platforming but the diagonal is still tricky.

Celeste is perfect, there are no issues with the controls, merely issues with you.

I started off with the d-pad myself but when I saw diagonal input was going to be a thing I swapped to using the left stick & I'm glad I did as the later gold leaf sections are clearly designed for analogue inputs. So yep I would say the pro is much better.

How the heck did I end up being one of the less enthusiastic people about Celeste in this conversation? It wasn't a big deal for me anyway, and being able to play it on the train was worth any control issues!

I've not got Baba is You yet, but I have at least started a new game - Wonder Boy III. It's early days, but I just can't get over how cool the make-over is. Normally, when remakes let you switch between "new" and "old" on the fly, you basically see that the new version is a bit shinier. The new art style doesn't even look like you're playing the same game; I was a little bit familiar with the original game, and, until I pressed the Retro button, I didn't realise I was in a specific location. Shopping please.

Only other game that I can think off that does that is Halo & 2 Anniversaries which are amazingly different.

Ha! I was literally thinking of Halo Anniversary as the example of "more shiny - less shiny". But maybe that's testament to the grand difference of Wonder Boy.

Really wow as it's like night and day playing Halo Anniversary.

Watching a trailer for Wonder Boy doesn't look it does that much difference than what Halo did.
