Yes! I’ve been craving new WarioWare for a long time now, and here it is. Three hundred microgames! The nose-picking one! Good stuff. Applause

Nice to see that the Warioware twisted microgames will finally get their chance to shine.

Those Twisted games are the most exciting to me. As I understand it, they were put together by the A team from the original GBA game while a B team did most of Touched. I'm hoping that means they're properly bonkers and creative.

This makes much more sense as a collection than the Mario Party minigame collection we got at the tail end of last year. I'm actually super interested in picking this one up!

That's obviously the best bit of this game. I hope we get a fully narrated Wario Ware on Switch.

Charles Martinet's great, isn't he?

Ooh, not sure about that.  Never meet your heroes.

'Hi Mr. Martinet, I'm a big fan of your...'
'Let me guess: you want me to say "It's-a me", don't you?  Piss off you little shit.  You know how many hours of acting school I sat through?  I could've been an international lawyer for fuck's sake, and here I am, parroting helium-voiced garbage so that you can get your pathetic rocks off and take a selfie with... a founding member of the San Jose Repertory Theatre, perhaps?  The Gravedigger from Imagen Award-receiving film, The Disappearance of Garcia Lorca?  No, of course not, it's the voice of FUCKING MARIO, or Waluigi if you're one of those sad bastards.  "It's-a meeeeee a Maaaaaario!"  Are you happy now, you nerdy cunt?  ARE YOU!?'

That demo on the eShop is worthwhile, even though there's only about twenty minigames in total. I don't expect them to arse up the full release - it'll probably end up being one of the best games on the 3DS.

PostSubject: Re: WarioWare Gold (An Oldie)   WarioWare Gold (An Oldie) EmptyThu 2 Aug 2018 - 22:03

I enjoyed the demo enough, though having looked at the finished title it really does look like assembly-line tier fodder. Compared with 2003's WarioWare Inc. - Nintendo R&D1's final ever game - the new cutscene format is silly and attention-grabbing rather than subtle and witty, and the presentation is rather lacking. Those are some dull menus.

I'm just amazed they managed to make WarioWare Gold seem so dull compared with the games that inspired it - but it always was a product of its time I think. WarioWare Inc. predicted the future, after all, if you read between the lines in its narrative and presentation of many, many game ideas. Heck, one game in WarioWare Touched is basically Fruit Ninja six or seven years before the fact.

I was getting tempted by it as well cos of the voucher burning in my pocket but I guess I'll save it. All I've wanted from Wario Ware for a while now is something like the multiplayer stuff from the Cube game and it's never happened. Such a shame.

I've not been tempted to pick up the game, but I did like Wario taking over Nintendo of America's Twitter. The tweets are all still there if you scroll back in their timeline a few days.

If anyone does get it, I'd love to know their thoughts. It just doesn't look particularly inspired to me, and the demo didn't impress me either. You're probably better off spending the money on an old copy of WarioWare, Inc. (or replay it on 3ds if you were an ambassador!), and Twisted.

I watched some footage of this and I'm actually somewhat tempted. I've not played a lot of the older WarioWare games, so the microgames would feel fresh to me and there's something novel about having a fully voice acted Wario. They should let Charles Martinet do that more often as it sounds like he's having a blast.

Based on what I've played of the full retail release, I recommend it to all, whether you've not played a lot of old WarioWare games or if you've been playing the other games in the series since 2003. It might as well be called WarioWare Ultimate - it's loaded with the best stuff from Mega Microgames, Touched and Twisted, the three best WarioWare games (imo). That said, I can see this being exactly like all of the other WarioWare games, in that I'll be completely done with it in a week. Is a few hours entertainment worth £29.99 to you?

Oh don't get me wrong, if this or a game like it were coming to Switch I'd be on it in a flash.  Is a game with fully-voiced Wario throughout worth £30 to me?  Definitely.
