I saw the initial trailer one (1) time and now I won't watch a damn thing else until I am in the theatre watching the film.

Yeah, I'll be avoiding any more trailers or content for the film until release after the most recent trailer. It was beginning to verge into "here's the whole plot" territory as many film trailers annoyingly tend to do in this day and age.

Still, I'm surprised by how excited I am for this film! I hope it does gangbusters.

Over/under on the Sonic movie doing as well?

Considering I forgot sonic existed until you mentioned it, I don't have high hopes . . .

Like others I'm in full "avoid-trailer" mode, but this has my attention and I'll be avidly on the watch for the fan feedback. The first time a video game movie looks to not only be half-decent but outright good.

I normally avoid trailers as they spoil too much, but as I've played the game already and the plot appears to be basically the same it's not a problem for me.

Right, that's me told! Although one of the trailer's top spoilers, I saw from an unrelated page, so it's not like I'd be going in spoiler-free anyway.

Noted! Although, if it plays before Captain Marvel I won't have much choice.

So, just saw Detective Pikachu in the theatre.

I loved it. It was everything I needed it to be. I can safely say it's in the top two American cgi-heavy movies based on Japanese monster franchises with a token role for Ken Watanabe released in May 2019.

Oh, and here are some thoughts in audio form. Vague impressions at first, then after a break there are some more specific, verging-on-spoiler bits.

Booked in to see it on Friday night, I'm very excited

Going to take my girlfriend to see it next week. HYPED

Definitely not a perfect movie, but definitely also the best videogame movie!

Just come back from seeing it, a great video game movie but I still prefer Mortal Kombat!

I saw it with Shen and Rob a second time on Sunday and I still love the world so much. On a second viewing, my eye wandered a little more and so spotted so much cool stuff in backgrounds and just to the side of the focal point. It's far from a perfect film but it's fun enough and the world it builds around the edges has me so excited for more pokemon films.

I didn't really understand his criticism - I've not seen the movie, mind, but even from watching the trailers I can see a clear storyline and the trailer even showed off some jokes too. Saying that the film had no plot or jokes can't be correct, surely?

The film is literally all jokes...

Yeah it has plenty of jokes and a rather simple story to follow.
