Yesterday I Bought (a bad pun) for 3!

Picked these up in the Steam Halloween sale.

I bought Sensible World of Soccer off GOG, as
(a) they got it DOSBoxing good on all the Windows
(b) the spiritual successor Sociable Soccer seems to be too close to, but not as good as, the big 2 football games, and
(c) I had the SNES version of the original, which didn't let you edit teams, and found myself wide awake at night recently, wondering if I could come up with a whole set of new custom teams to cover the "funny" ones. Expect both an NGamer Utd and GNamer Utd in future.

Long as you've got my goalscoring prowess down.

Only 15 DC games to go (I own over 230 games from all regions) and I've started making use on the BC feature on the One with those 360 games which cost £10 for some great gaming.

Oh, and some more Temeraire and Discworld.  But yeah, they're not important here.  What's important is the deadly weapon of a book that is Oathbringer.  And when I say deadly weapon I ain't kidding, the book's genuinely large enough to bludgeon someone to death with lol.  Also that is some mighty visually striking cover art right there.  



And if you thought I was kidding here's how thick the book is next to a unfurled 3ds!

That's thicker than a Maths textbook! Enjoy, sir... it'd take me until 2020 to read that.

Zero et al., that there's (a reason) why I have no interest in it.  Chuffing ridiculous, it is. Cartridge games should be on the cartridge!

In a 'Balla disagrees with a GNamerian's view on visuals' shocker, I much prefer the Pratchett's cover.  It's the visual equivalent of 'words everywhere'.  The tome just has a generic threatening-looking person.

Unfortunately Balla with the Switches growing popularity that will happen more often than not going forward. I don't ever see Nintendo games be like that but 3rd parties quite likely, as games are can be around 110gb now.

I bought two shooting games. One of them I've been wanting to play since last year but never got round to, the other I've been wanting to play since 2005 but somehow never gotten round to!

It honestly shouldn't be the case for a 6 year old game though, I could understand it being massive when it originally launched (ps3 version on psn says it's 12Gb) because of the cutting edge tech it used at the time but this re-release for all formats which is really just has a new lick of paint is somehow 18Gb on ps4. How is it right or acceptable that an older game goes up in file size instead of down? Maybe they did do their best to compress everything down but there's no getting around that on Switch most who want to buy the game will need to have or buy an SD card along with it making it an even more expensive purchase.

Oh....wait a second....in the process of looking some things up I've found that Switch cartridges vary from 1GB - 32GB in size so yeah that 14Gb you need to download for LA Noire is likely most of the game. Why didn't they just put it on the cartridge? The Switch cards are clearly big enough.

A bigger Switch cart means putting the price up, I understand. They could have priced the game out of the market by doing so. I'm OK with the compromise but that's because I've got a pretty big SD card in my Switch...

All that resolution on PS4, Switch I don't know why the file size is same or bigger as it's the same as PS360.

Zero hits the nail on the head, bigger the cart higher the cost and then we have to pay that, which then leads to the whole Switch Tax like we had back on the N64 which Resident Evil 2 stands out.

So forget about the age of the game but whoever can't win, either put on a small cart and we have to download most of the game (which is really no different to installing games on PS4 part from you've got 500GB at a minimum ) and buy a SD Card or they put on a cart it fits on but we have to pay more.

I'd be fine with paying the extra because it's easy to understand why you are paying more, but as it is currently you're paying 45-50 quid for what is probably the low end 1 or 2Gb card. I can only imagine that they are making back way way more than it cost them to produce the game card.

Plus it is not impossible to find good deals for games these days.

Take Resident Evil 2 though wasn't that £70 on N64 but £40 on PS1 due to the cart (this if memory serves me). I don't know how much all the different carts prices are for Switch (WWE would be £10 more for the next cart up, which I guess is 16GB) but I can see the price difference being a issue as could put someone people off buying 3rd party games on Switch if £30 more (using RE2 situation) then a PS4 version which then could in turn put 3rd parties off, if limited sales of the game.

I am basing this all of the N64 pretty much when 3rd parties went to PlayStation as discs where cheaper etc and if games did come to it they'd maybe cost more than there PS1 counter parts.

Yeah I totally get that it's a tough situation but personally I'd just want more options as the customer, as I said elsewhere this way puts me off the game(s) a little because I know I'd have to do a lot of data management just to play the game and that just isn't fun.

Big installs like that that aren't digital ruin the immediacy of the Switch as well.
