If everyone posts their links as embedded videos, it properly lags up the thread whenever I try to load it up. It's not a problem if there's only one or two per page.

Aye it was a problem for me a while back but not now but if ye go overboard (which no one has) with the embedded youtube vids it can slow things down.

What's the best shop theme in video games?

Shops are a staple of RPGs and adventure games and as such typically have some kickin' themes. Let's hear them!



My first pick is the shop theme from The Binding of Isaac It's leaps and bounds better than the equivalent theme in Afterbirth. Being one of the few safe areas in the game, it's relatively chill compared to the rest of the game's soundtrack. I like the muffled effect on the track.



Finally, I get to post something from Persona 5. Layer Cake plays in the game's weapon shop and whilst it starts off somewhat creepily, it launches into the funkiest shop theme I've ever heard. Dear god, the bass in this! It almost feels wasted being a shop theme, but that's part of its charm I suppose.

Next, please!

I feel fairly safe in saying that, just like last week's fire theme, I have once again won the thread and rendered all further themes on the matter irrelevant.

I do actually, unironically, love the Malo Mart theme.  The BoI theme's pretty good, and the Persona 5 one's not bad, but Malo Mart is the best shop theme ever.

To be fair, that comment was more me trying to goad Drunka into posting his picks, the commie prick.

I do like the Malo Mart theme, but it's marred by the creepy prick manning the shop.

As for Mas's pick, always a thumbs up to anything from MGS4's soundtrack. Say what you will about the game itself, but the soundtrack is full of certified bangers and bonafide tunes.

Slightly different approach, but here's the only shop music that can compete with Malo Mart. I can't hear Drake's Hotline Bling anymore without hearing this version.

Brilliant pick! A genuine banger as well - the Switch eShop has nothing on the Wii, at least not without a cracking tune like this to accompany it.

That's another absolute belter! If I really wanted to cheat, I'd remember when they put Colony 9 up as the 3DS Shop tune...

Both OoT and Wind Waker's shop themes came to mind as soon as I posted this week's theme - I'm surprised it took them even a day to turn up!

In my bid to find another totally serious Digimon World track, I was reminded of its horrific RNG hellhole of a shop keeper mini-game. However, its theme is surprisingly good! There's a little bit of the Wii Shop channel theme in there.

And I've also got to highlight the irritatingly catchy shopping theme from Persona 3. It turns up in P4 and a version of the track turns up in P5 too.

Jay in 'not entirely shocking Digimon World piece' shocker! Also I prefer that Persona theme to the one you posted earlier.

I think the P3 theme better fits the shop motif, what with it being a jingle and all, but the P5 theme is just so goddamn funky. I'll end up posting the entire P5 OST in here by the time we're done with this thread.

Reply #97! This is the tune that plays in Carabia, the jewellery store in Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. I like it because it sounds like the kind of mood music there would actually be in an upmarket jewellery store in Shibuya.

The Animal Crossing shop themes!  My favourite's the calm of The Roost, especially in its New Leaf incarnation. It also has a brilliant Smash Bros. upgrade, and a very good MK8 one. Mmm, lovely pigeon milk.

There's also Re-Tail, the Able Sisters, Shampoodle, and any one of Tom Nook's themes that you choose.  I... don't... actually like them that much, but again, I do like when it gets mashed up with (better) Post Office theme in Smash.

None of you remembered these either.  We must all feel ashamed of ourselves.
