Mario Golf Super Rush - it's not Strikers though, is it?

Golf. Been a minute since we had a Mario sport. They have the RPG stuff but the Mii angle makes me suspect it'll be half-arsed.

This reveal made me grin, but yes, the Mii RPG bit looks pretty basic compared to the GameBoy offerings (which is a weird thing to say). The Super Rush name even suggests that the key feature is Speed Golf, yet that was a mini-game in Toadstool Tour...

This was my favourite thing they shown, never properly played a Mario Golf but this looks great even if my favourite bit the speed golf isn't new. It isn't Strikers though no, they need to get on that asap, considering it'd be made elsewhere by Next Level I'm still hopeful it can happen

This was maybe my favourite announcement of last night’s Nintendo Direct. I’m a big fan of most of these Mario sports games – they’re easy to pick up, appealingly crisp and glossy and they’re almost always mechanically sound. They used to have tons of content in the N64 and GameCube days as well, but disappointingly the most recent ones could rightfully be called ‘half-arsed’. Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash on Wii U could be fairly described as ‘not arsed’. Still, a big gap between World Tour on 3DS and Super Rush here means that the developer has thought of loads of things to add on top of the base game.

I haven't actually gotten stuck into a Mario sport game in ages so I'll be well up for this if a few people get into it and we can have some multiplayer sessions.

Speed golf looks good multiplayer fun and I'm very excited by a singleplayer RPG mode - just got to keep expectations in check and hold out that they do it justice

After Castle Club my expectations for an RPG mode are looooooooow. Speed Golf did look like the best idea Mario Golf and Tennis collectively have had since the GameCube, but I've been burned so many times by high expectations for the Mario sports games, so I'm keeping mine in check for now.

I'm not usually one for golf games, but Turbo Golf looked ace, so colour me interested. Plus I drafted this in the Fantasy League so it'll be a 90+ masterpiece, natch.

I just want them to stay dinosaurs. Let them evolve and what have you got? A bird? Pathetic.

That trailer's the first time I've properly been interested in this game. Never mind the modes and that (the RPG still looks duff), the courses look like they're going to be properly fun this time around in a way I haven't felt since Toadstool Tour.

They've really back-loaded all the exciting stuff. That first trailer had pretty dull-looking courses, and even in this trailer they didn't look interesting until right at the end. Like, do they think people don't want wacky stuff in their Mario games?
