Yeah, I guess I was expecting a change of pace from Souls. I bet the game will be great but it was a disappointing trailer imo. Think I fancy Sekiro more than this one for now.

Obviously I have no interest in a new Soulslike game that won't come to Switch ever, but if there's one thing I like about it...

Well Valve have announced the SteamDeck a hybrid gaming thing starting from £350 which has a whole new console interface and access to all your STEAM Library, and you can add other things because it's a PC.

Seems like only IGN has had hands on, which they played Stars Wars Jedi Fallen Order at high settings, which seems quite impressive as what would you get from a £350 PC? And what sort of setting is the PS4ONE version of that game.

Personally it's an odd one as I wouldn't play much handheld, meaning it be docked like a console, and I've got an Xbox Series X for that where I can buy games physical. Sure an odd game I would play on it like Kena, yet so little of these odd games that my laptop which I can just plug into my TV likely good enough.

I'm more interested where going forward might take the Switch, be it a Pro or a Switch 2 with things like price point and what you get under the hood for that money. Yeah, I know Nintendo is not about the power, I'm thinking more 3rd party, that things like Jedi Fallen Order can come over with little to no compromises.

I'm not much of a PC gamer but I do have Steam and a bunch of games in that library that never get played. Having a Steam library in the palm of your hands is wild and the fact this can run your Tekken 7s and Death Strandings is impressive for the price point. Is it just Steam that's on there, or can you put files (aka emulators) on there?

You can install Windows etc seen some say that could use as a portable Xbox beyond Xcloud as you could install PC versions of Forza Horizon 5 etc

Huh, I'm faintly intrigued by this, mainly because I've never been a PC gamer and I've never had the means to comfortably play a lot of games on Steam, and I've always been more of a handheld console gamer than home console. That said, I've got way more games available to me than I do time to play them, so I really wouldn't need it!

Looking at it, games you play with a controller probably work fine on it but I'm not sure how good it would be for mousey keyboard games. Definitely think this is a, try before you buy, system because it has a load of touch pads on it and I'm not convinced by its ergonomics at a glance.

It looks like a pretty decent idea though.

There's a lot of similar devices floating about though, eh? It might not entice the folk who play mainly on PC which could be it's downfall.

Just had a wee look at the official site and it has a dock too where you can use usb peripherals as well connect to other monitors etc.

Did mention it was dockable

Yeah I just saw the IGN video on it. It seemed cool and things that make playing PC games more convenient is good. I'm still not totally convinced but I'd like to see it do well.

Something IGN didn't really cover was the inevitable compatibility issues you'll have with it. Sure, you can install Windows, but the native system is Steam OS and that... well it's not perfectly compatible with quite a few PC games. I'm sure they'll get an impressive library together that works as well as it would do in Windows, and you can already run lots of games just fine on Steam OS, but it wouldn't be fair to say it's as simple as using a console until people get their hands on them.

I'm sure accessibility is definitely something Valve will want to address though so maybe it'll wind up being everything it could be.

This is anecdotal (and if my anecdotal claims were always right Labour would have been in power for the last decade), but I've seen a lot of buzz about this.  This poll on a Nintendo site is fairly telling, for all that the Switch OLED has inspired an almost completely unwarranted backlash.  It's even got my fanboy juices flowing again, embarrassingly.  Basically I want it to do well enough that it causes Nintendo to up their game, but not so well that it's an actual competitor.  This duology might not be possible.

I keep thinking I'm a little bit interested, due to my huge Steam backlog. I wouldn't hardly ever play it hand-held though, in which case it's only to free up the PC games for the TV, if someone else is using my desktop. Don't think I can justify it myself at the moment.

This goes rather beyond 'industry bull' so it's in here. Basically ActiBlizz's culture makes UbiSoft look tame. There is some utterly horrible stuff in that article, so be warned. That includes ActiBlizz's response, by the way, which decides to go after 'irresponsible behavior from unaccountable State bureaucrats' rather than defend itself.

I don't think I've played anything by ActiBlizz so this is no loss for me. I've been shown claims that not buying the games hurts more than it helps, from a woman in the industry - claims I'm not sure I believe wholeheartedly for a couple of reasons. Regardless, I hope the lawsuit hits and hits hard if the alleged claims are true (ha ha ha ).

I've felt this way for a while but I'll put it on record officially seeing as this news has come about.

Positive news is Football Manager is getting womens teams and not just token like FIFA but seems full on representation eventually.

Just burn the entire corporate system down. It exists to let rich old white men get away with doing whatever they want. That is literally the purpose for which companies, the stock market, the legal system, everything in Europe and America was designed. Videogames are made in that system so I'm sure even companies we don't know about have some shady shit going on.

Just buy Japanese games and Indies.

We know how terrible the world is - can we at least look at this positive news? Sports Interactive are totally going about this the right way, putting years of research into things, unlike EA's really lazy approach.
