I used to thoroughly enjoy that kind of thing on the Wii, when we would invent our own modes with one player on remote and the other on nunchuk.

Here, though, there is room for a genuine co-op mode and this. . . Ain't it.

Astral Chain co-op should really either be one person controlling the brother and one the sister, or one the human and one the Legion. Drunka's right, there's room for better there.

Are there many co-op levels in Pikuniku, which I'd forgot existed?

There are only nine, you can get through them in a single sitting easily enough. It certainly never outstays its welcome! There is also baskick, a little competitive basketball game that is a fun distraction.

The game provided me and my girlfriend a fun evening of enjoyment, and the singleplayer another couple of evenings for myself.

Sadly that feels like not enough for an all-new game in this saturated era. Oh well, I've embraced everything that's wrong with the industry and bought the Overcooked 2 season pass, so we'll see whether that can tide us over until Cat Quest 2, which has to be my most anticipated 6/10 game ever.

Did you give Snipperclips a proper bash, Balla? Might be worth revisiting, especially as there's more content now with that updated version they put out.

Surely if anything this "saturated era" means a shorter game is easy to get played? If it's cheap enough what's the objection?

Me and Shen had a lot of fun playing all the co-op Classic mode campaigns on Smash Bros Ultimate. They're counted separately from the singleplayer versions.

That sounds like tremendous fun! Unfortunately The Lady isn't a Smash fan. I have tried to remedy this to no avail. She doesn't like Mario Kart either.

True, but it also means I don't have time to pay the (single-player) games I want to play, let alone introducing any others!

I did... I felt like after the initial charm wore off, it wasn't as fun as had been advertised. It felt like a classic example of launch games being overrated out of excitement, and I ended up uninstalling it to make space.

Anyway CQ2 finally has a release date, so that should be enough along with the OC2 DLC. Thanks for the ideas gents, and sorry for not taking them forward. It's not you, it's us (apart from AC where it's the game).

Me and my brother did a fair few of these. Agreed on the lots of fun element!

Scenes when it turns out your Mrs. is only into Hogs of War, Theme Park World and Bonsai Barber

As I understand it she plays Mass Effect, Dragon Age, The Withcher, Wolfenstein, a modded copy of San Andreas, Custer's Revenge and Leisure Suit Larry.

Not sure which I'd prefer. Custer's Revenge is pretty low, but in the other scenario I'd be worried she'd leave me and move to Scotland.

Level 5's Snack World is coming to us in Feb., and if you're a fan of JRPGs I would encourage you to watch the trailer.  I was utterly unfussed until I did so: I got the feeling that the game's meant to be a bigger deal than it felt like, a sort of follow-up to Fantasy Life in a way and probably February's major Switch release.  I just... wasn't fussed.

However, the stop-motion look is pretty sweet, the characters look interesting apart from your hero, and the monsters boogieing down (including a decidedly Ginyu Squad-esque pose at 1:33) charmed me a bit.  Also there's a bit at 1:06 where a slime looks like it's got mushroom baws. In the unlikely event that I've cleared some of my backlog by then, I could be persuaded. If not it might still be a nice palate-cleanser.
