| I've got a question, does anyone know a good DVD ripper I can get so I can back up my dvd collection? I don't really care if it's free or costs money to register, just needs to be able to rip dvds and not have a problem with copyrighted discs (basically every dvd ever because for god knows what reason it's cool to rip CDs but lord forbid they allow people to make backups of their purchased DVDs), and be easy to use.
Some of my discs are even starting to show wear and tear because of use so I can't put this off much longer, and I don't trust google searches on stuff like this. |

| Try MakeMKV, it's free and easy to use. |

| Well, I tried it, but alas I ran in to a few problems with it. Neither Windows Media Player nor Mediamonkey could play the files I ripped (I guess they don't like the MKV format), and it ripped the chapters as individual files which I can see turning in to a problem when it comes to playing full episodes of things back.
So I guess I'm still in the market for one, thanks for the suggestion though. It took me a number of tries with various programs before I found a CD ripper I liked, and the same for my media player, so I'll just keep checking out suggestions until I hit the right one. |

| Cheers for the link, I'll save it for later since I'll never know when I might need to play MKV files, but it appears in the time I was gone I found a way of solving my problems for now. Downloaded a program called HandBrake, it can't bypass the copy protection of my dvds but it can convert any MKV files I have in to MP4 files as I just checked out. I'm sure with a bit more time spent poking around I'll be able to save specific chapters (episodes) to their separate files and that will be that. Now begins the really long task of ripping my DVD collection. This.... is gonna take a very long time. Anyway thanks a lot for the help guys. |

| Sorry about the late reply, but it's been going very well Jay. It's taking a very long while due to the vast amount of discs I've got but I'm making steady process. |

| As mentioned in Shanks birthday thread, we really ought to compile a list of our birthdays and sticky it like we had back on Ye Olde NGamer Forums. |

| The drunkenness I can understand. It's the lack of grammar that infuriates me. There is in fact a forum feature that announces when it's someone's birthday, Facebook-style. Not sure why it was ever off, but I'm tempted to turn it back on. Thoughts? |

| That would be the easiest way, I suppose. Would it just be a little message at the top of the screen? That'd be nice. |

| Let's turn it on and find out!
EDIT: Oh. After a quick observation, it seems to send automated PMs to users on their birthdays. That is not what I'm aiming for. I've just turned birthday management on - maybe that'll do something?
EDITEDIT: Coo, that's better! |
