I think that, following his memorable appearances in Wii Sports, Wii Play and Mario Kart Wii, Hitler should be counted as a first-party character, and should be added to the Smash roster immediately.

I actually know who that is! I don't normally watch the Animes (pronounced Ay-neims, like Bugs Bunny would say it) but actually a FullMetal Alchemist character would work out quite well in Smash.

It's probably been suggested before but Chibi Robo anyone? The new game could be an indicator for his abilities in Smash.

Okay, let me do my piece.  You're pretty much all expecting it by now, but I'm doin' it anyway:

Cloud has never, but never, appeared in a game on a Nintendo console.  Unless you count Chibi-Cloud from the Theatrhythm games, and does anyone?  No, no they don't. Cloud in his regular form has no sodding link with Nintendo whatsoever.  Not even a tenuous one, like for example Snake.  None.  Absolutely none.

That piece over, a lot of Cloud's moves looked a lot like generic swordsman's moves.  There was one particular throw which was a carbon-copy of Ike's.  So I'm not that excited for him as a playable character either, although I'm generally good with swordsmen.

His stage looks utterly brilliant though.

And isn't getting a link to Nintendo systems anytime soon unless the steam version comes across to Wii U and the remake does come to NX but that's years off.

I can only assume that the Final Fantasy Fanboys pushed him to the top of the ballot, otherwise I'm sure Ninty wouldn't want him there.

At the moment it's the only confirmed console is the PS4 and how they announced it was little fishy that may be timed ala Rise of the Tomb Raider but what FFVII remake on PS4 in 2019 then NX in 2020.

Goku in Smash doesn't seem outside the realms of possibility now...

First thing I thought during the Cloud announcement was "sheeeeeiit Balla's not gonna be happy about this"

I have no problems with third party characters appearing in Smash, but i'd prefer if they had some connection to Nintendo. Final Fantasy is a massive franchise that originated on a Nintendo console so for that I'm fine for them to be represented in the series. But Cloud, to me, was the poster boy for PlayStation back in the day so it's jarring to see him in this.

Really it's Final Fantasy's fault for not having anyone else notable or iconic enough to pick instead.

You could argue that with the remake coming out that he still is a poster boy for PlayStation.

Just thought a there's going to be a Cloud amiibo, he will sell loads as PlayStation, Nintendo, Final Fantasy, amiibo fans will buy him.

Couldn't the same be said about Ryu, ohh I want play his game but I've got to buy a PS4 for Street Fighter V, now that goes for FFVII.

This basically, seems like a really strange decision, there is always perhaps the hope something like this could get the Final Fantasy fans to invest in Smash Bros or even a Wii U but I just can't see it, it did however manage to get me quite excited for the upcoming FF7 remake so... err... job done?

Is this a ballot result though? Since there is that special smash bros broadcast next month.

As for Cloud I'm not fussed over his inclusion in fact I'd say he's a brilliant pick, though I obviously won't be rushing out to get him.
