Agreed with Cloud, but they totally made up for that failing with Sephiroth - there was a grand wee collection of remixed and original tracks that came with him. Plus, both stages are very well done for FF7. I'd assume that a lack of remixes for Sora might be the big ugly licensing issue coming into play as I think that's what initially scuppered Cloud's musical offerings.

I did initially say I'd be disappointed with Sora as the final reveal as it seems a boring choice but in the end I suppose it makes a lot of sense, of course the fan vote means a lot but I'd also say having the lead from one of the biggest crossover series in a game all about crossovers is the perfect addition. Aside from all that I don't think I could have offered a better alternative either.

It does make a lot of sense, in that it's 2021 and the world is terrible. I whined a lot about another Fire Emblem character because they all look the bleddy same, but I at least "get" Fire Emblem as a game series that people like, even if it's not for me - if there were no FE characters it'd be a travesty. Kingdom Hearts is the absolute bullshit worst though.

I'd forgotten Sephiroth was even in the game.

That is 100% a you problem, he was arguably the best reveal of the second fighter pack. He even had that special boss fight event thing!

Hey, has this ever gone on sale in the EU eShop? Seems like a game you'd want to go digital with.

I genuinely don't remember ever seeing it on sale. But aye, I think digital is the way to go for this one.

There was a first party sale on e shop recently (near the end of September) but from what I looked up it didn't look like Smash bros was on it.

Number 1 pick in Europe and Asia, Number 2 in North America give the people what they want.

To be fair with some of the characters that people voted for I wouldn't necessarily trust the general public too much.

You could replace "characters" with governments, laws, leaders, names of boats . . . anything really.

Boaty McBoatface was a stroke of genius and I'll hear nothing to the contrary.

I have the Fighters' Pass so had a go with Sora today. He's pretty boring. It's kind of a shame that the final character plays, to all intents and purposes, a lot like another anime swordsman. That's why I was hoping we'd get a nonhuman character like Banjo-Kazooie or Piranha Plant, because their playstyle is a bit more imaginative.

Also, I would love to be able to organise the fighters and the stages in either alphabetical order or by series. The chronological order is too chaotic for my brain.

I can probably echo that based on what I've played but that being said it does make him enjoyable to use as most of the anime swordspeople are.

Agreed, far too messy for my tastes too!

Sora's a bit too floaty for my liking - my main fighters are more ground based speedy boys like Captain Falcon and Fox.

I played this last weekend - I think it had to download and announce from Sephiroth onwards. I don't think I've played as Sora yet; I actually like the floaty lads (Ness / Kirby / Daisy / Blonde Daisy), so maybe I'll do alright once I finish complaining about his existence.

Just have Ridley and Bayonetta left in Classic mode, so then I'll be tempted to purchase the fighter passes.

I did Ridley on the train ride up to Hokkaido, and Bayonetta on the flight back down, so my long journey to finish every character's classic mode is complete! I'll probably snap up the additional fighters very soon.

It is very satisfying seeing all the characters checked off on Classic Mode. Think I took a screenshot after clearing Sora's Classic Mode.
