| A few extra things to do in the depths, like more side adventures would've been nice especially when.... - A certain side adventure:
...it started so highly for me when finding the Master Kohga quest line on my first trip down there.
Overall though I don't mind them as like Balla I specifically tried not to spend too much time down there or least give myself a good reason to go there like when you find the treasure maps. And speaking of which following one of those maps produced one of my favourite moments I've had in all of TotK so far even if it was a bit of a perfect storm situation that has probably only happened to me. |

| I've done 3 temples at this point, thought the Goron one was naff, the setting of the Rito one was much better than actually playing it and the Gerudo one was brilliant and felt much closer to the creativity I'm used to seeing in the series. I'd say all the bosses were great spectacles though and the lead up to each temple has been enjoyable.
I'm really liking the depths too but I've also just been dipping in and out, like the surface it's going from one discovery to the next that does it for me. |

| I've now done the fourth temple! Definitive rankings: Dungeon: Gerudo > Rito > Zora > Goron (add a couple more >>> for good measure if you like) Approach: Goron > Zora > Rito > Gerudo (hey look at that!) Boss: Rito > Gerudo > Goron > Zora - Post-temples quest spoilers:
Spirit Temple comes second on approach (love bursting out through the Thundercloud and into the earth), dungeon, and probably third on boss.
Let's be clear though: these are still (a) weak for the series and (b) not the point of the game really. After clearing the desert I'm now digging deep into a bunch of side-quests for the area.  |

HOW BLOODY EXCELLENT WAS THAT
Also bloody hard. I made some more sundelion meals to take into the Depths. Turns out I had nowhere near enough. Why does every single one of Ganon's attacks gloom me, and then break the gloomed hearts!? Grargh. I ended up playing it very cautiously, as the fact that I lost all but two of my shields signifies.
What a swordfight though! This is what Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword's final phases should have been! Ganondorf looking better than ever (not like that (but also like that)), and being the only enemy able to emulate your perfect dodges. Game-changer! The music also had some hints of traditional Japanese instruments that made it feel like a proper samurai duel.
AND THEN
I don't think I've been so impressed at a final boss fight since... I don't know if Bowser smashing up a moon in Mario Odyssey counts. Maybe Kirby Planet Robobot and its celestial gamut. That final phase was so incredibly Studio Ghibli, in both the soundtrack and the dragons weaving around each other like the version of Spirited Away they deemed too much for Western audiences so we got Yokai Yokai Panic instead. The QTE with the music at the end too. Absolute belter. There'll be some pricks on the Internet who'll complain about that because It WaS tOo EaSy. They're bad and they should feel bad.
The ending cut-scene itself... eh. What wasn't going to be a comedown after that? It was fine. Zelda nerding out over her time travel trip was good, everybody tearing up over Mineru was eh. Mineru has never had an interaction with any of them apart from Link. It didn't land. UNLIKE LINK AND ZELDA AM I RIGHT
In short: loved it. I have a bunch of concerns about the game, and the series in general going forward, which can be found in my LGYF post. That final fight? Absolute banger. |

| I've got a lot to do, natch, but I'm close to a point where I can "finish" this.
I adore this game, and though I've seen criticisms that make sense, I don't personally agree with any of them. Considering the impossible goal this game had, I think they've smashed it beyond anyone's wild expectations. |

The bomb.
Having an actual Ganondorf with lines and personality who could taunt me was a big improvement.
The sages felt more involved than the Champions and their little laser beam cutscene.
The one-on-one duels with the 'dorf were great, like A Fromsoft boss except not as hard. I did die on my first attempt because although I'd cooked up a lot of food, I hadn't thought to cook explicitly a load of gloom hearts food.
It took me an embarassingly long time to realise I was supposed to be doing the the classic move of tennis balling back Ganondorfs attacks.
THEN I FLEW UP TO THE SKY ALL THE WAY FROM THE DEEPEST DEPTHS TO THE HIGHEST POINT IN THE STRATOSPHERE AND ME AND ZELDA HAD AN AMAZING DRAGON BATTLE AND THEN I CAUGHT HER AS THE THEME TUNE PLAYED AND HOLY SHIT YASSSSSS
