I think I might skip this year, with apologies. Got a big stressful thing happening this summer, and I'll probably need most of my weekends to sit at home and recover. Sorry all.

What's the thing?

I don't really mind when, as I will try to sort something out.

I was going to suggest having something down in London some time over summer. My flat has gone through so I now have my own space with a buttload of games, not to mention it’s London so plenty of shit around like Loading Bar.

I get that not everyone will fancy the trip but it can be done Edinburgh to London in 4 hours at its quickest. Anyway, food for thought there

If anything's on in London I could probably walk there! Much less stressful if it isn't an entire day. But obviously it won't work for everyone.

Could have a South meet-up at Andy's, a North meet-up at the Play Expo, and then a central one? Or is that likely to be too much for people?

As long as the meetup doesn't fall on the one weekend I definitely can't do like it did last year I'm up for it.

I'm happy with a night or two down at Andy's neck of the woods if he's alright with having his home invaded for a weekend. It'd have to be later in the summer though for myself as I've used all my annual leave and it doesn't refresh until July for me.

How odd as all my jobs have been tied to financial year

July 1st is the start of the business year at my work, so that's how my holidays are tied on.

I'm assuming Andy was meaning late summer anyway, but I'll leave that up to the man himself to say.

I'd be up for that Play Expo day - there's buses every twenty minutes to Braehead and back to Buchanan Bus Station, so that's a piece of piss. There's a couple of arcade pubs in the city centre too - R-CADE and Super Bario come to mind.

That arcade pub looks all right, but it's not enough to make me want to go to Bury.

Sounds like a plan. I can always put myself up for a night in a Travel Lodge or something if we'd be making it a late one as Sunday bus service back to Fife is pretty miserable all told.

Aye, it's Sunday 9th June. We could go to Braehead for the Play Expo show for late morning, scoot about there for a few hours, head back into the city and head for a few arcade pubs.

Sound - if you and Jas are both set for it, I'll get my ticket bought.

I've bought a ticket for PlayExpo - I'll need to work out the best way to get to the venue from Dunfermline, but it shouldn't be too much hassle.

PlayExpo with Jas and TCK occurred yesterday and it was a good laugh! Pottering about playing arcade games for most of the day was fun and gave me the chance to play some games I've never played before. There was also a big import section amongst the vendors present at the exhibition, which was neat to peruse. I also nearly found myself buying a Gamecube but talked myself down from a needless purchase.

One of the highlights was getting to try out the Virtual Boy. I didn't play it for long - I felt a bit woozy after five minutes on it! - but I can see some of the DNA that formed the 3DS present in the machine. I can also see why it was a flop!

Here's a couple of snaps from the event in which Jas plays some retro game that I've never heard of and both TCK and Jas burn out their retinas whilst we all hailed the Virtual Boy.

Aye it was good times! I'm actually really intrigued by the Virtual boy that I might end up trying to pick up one for myself one day, though talking to fronkhead for little bit on twitter last night it's much cheaper to get over in Japan.

More power to you - I don't think I could use that for more than 10 minutes at a time. I genuinely felt a bit light-headed walking over to you two after using it!

I enjoyed it a lot too - good to see youse again. There were lots of highlights for me, such as playing the arcade version of Point Blank again, trying Knuckles Chaotix for the first time and getting a shot of Virtual Boy Wario Land for the first time since the '90s. My biggest highlight was getting to play the whack-a-mole version of Street Fighter II though, I hadn't heard of it until last year but I've thought it looks mint since then.



I'd definitely recommend Play Expo to anybody who's near one, they do a few of them around England.

I would have thought that'd have been a lowlight for yourself considering the drubbing handed to you by the fastest draw in Scotland, JayMoyles.

I swear the boss fight on that Whack-a-mole Street fighter machine was a massive cheat, pretty neat concept though.
