It'll definitely need to be in the autumn or winter at this point, I'd say, if anything at all.

Ideally, I think it'd be an idea to have the next meetup coinciding with a gaming expo or convention - the day over in Glasgow with Jas and TCK was a good laugh, so it'd be nice to do something like that with the forum as a whole.

Well I did try with my arcade idea but nobody wants to go to bury.

I thought there was some talk of splitting into north & south mini-meetups this time?

They've also got one in Leeds.

I'm still up for something between here and Manchester.

I'd like to go on record to say given the choice Bury is way down the list.

Jaster, JayMoyles and I did a mini meet-up in Glasgow last weekend, going to a games event at a brewery outside the city centre. It was really good to do something like this again – last time we had a chance to do it was a couple of weekends before the first lockdown two years ago. I enjoyed our free-flowing and intellectual dialogue about all sorts of important societal affairs, such as about Dunfermline’s squad for the 2004 Scottish Cup Final, and about MySims Racing on the Nintendo DS.

At the event itself, my highlights were introducing the guys to Ribbit King on the PlayStation 2, having the most back-and-forth game of NBA Jam I’ve ever had in my life, trying out Ridge Racer Type 4 with Namco’s mad own-brand PSone controllers, and – of course – having F-Zero X’s X Cup produce a track that looks like John Terry:

Aye, that match of NBA Jam really was something else & it's honestly about time a new one of those came out. I know it's probably a nightmare to licence etc but I'd love it if the original came to switch online.
Another highlight for me was playing windjammers 2 in local MP, while the online isn't bad it just had a certain zip about it & shows that is probably the best way to play it.

I'm still holding out a little hope that I'll be able to visit the UK this year. If it happens, I'll try to hit up some GNamerans.

Dare I say it could be worth trying to do a meet up this year? I suggest this knowing full well I'm trying to buy a house and it may scupper my personal chances of going but would still be great if another meet up happened.

Aw, great to read about you three meeting up! I don't know what I'll be up to this year, because I'm suffering from a serious case of House-Hunting-Itis, so I can't promise anything; but I'd love to look at a picture of y'all enjoying yourselves and be jealous.

I’d see us going to Glesgames again, and I’m sure there’ll be another of those later in the year (maybe even a couple more). I’d probably do a bigger meet-up like what we did a few years ago, although it would depend where it was. I thought Manchester struck a good balance between distance, cost and things to do last time.

Two new gaming joints have since opened in Manchester City Centre as well, I've not been myself but a friend has recommended it.

I'd certainly be up for Manchester again.

The greetings gifts he'd sent me over Pokémon Go show that he's been rampaging through the British Isles right enough: one from Glasgow Airport and another from a big clock outside an M&S somewhere in England. That's most of the UK's main sites, he's seeing it all.
